They decided to create
a band a few months after their initial meeting. They had already writen
several songs and were looking for musicians. Brian Parfitt, Matthew Sugarman
and Noel Chambers ended up coming together
with Erin and Dave.

Their first concert was given on Mick Jagger’s birthday party which
ensured them a reputation. They followed up with concerts in London rock
clubs and Elton John decided to sign them under his label Rocket Records

Putting together the record ended up being quite a task, mainly because
of Erin’s moods. Excentric and behaving unexpectedly she often disapeared
for days without any notice and would come back smiling with a couple
of new songs. Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks would say about her that
she was “Nebulous and quite elusive”.
Erin probably feeling pressured by things moving briskly disapeared once
again as Rocket Records having produced all the photos and was ready to
launch their first album. She took with her all of their songs and scores
and left Dave alone with the demo of the song “Will you be around”.

Mick Jagger says that she disapeared from Dave’s life as quicly
as she appeared to him in the first place “ in a strange way. I
feel that Dave was not as surprised by that as most of us were. Knowing
her, he almost expected it”.
The album was never recorded and Platinum Weird fell into oblivion. Dave
grew into heavy depression. He refers to this moment of his life as “his
lost years”.
